The outflow tract of the left ventricle.

چکیده
Intensive study of the infundibulum in congenital and acquired lesions has led to a much better appreciation of the anatomy and function of the right ventricular outflow tract in health and disease. The rapidly spreading practice of replacing severely damaged aortic and mitral valves, together with current interest in subaortic stenosis (Braunwald et al., 1964) have focused attention on the outflow tract of the left ventricle, which is more complex and less well understood than its opposite number on the right side of the heart. The object of this paper is to describe the anatomy of the left ventricular outflow tract, to illustrate its relation to other cardiac structures, and to emphasize the basic importance of the fibrous skeleton of the human heart. The cavity of each ventricle has a region that is concerned mainly with the inflow of blood from the corresponding atrium and one that is associated with the outflow of blood into either the pulmonary trunk or the ascending aorta. These two parts are now customarily designated the " inflow" and " outflow" tracts of the right and left ventricles. The outflow tracts lie above and in front of the inflow tracts and the walls of their terminal parts tend to be smoother than those of the inflow tracts, which are characterized by the raised muscular ridges of the trabeculte carnem.

A Case Report of left ventricle outflow tract (LVOT) Tumor in a 49 old day infant
Rhabdomyomata are probably the most common tumors that occur very rarely during infancy. In this paper, we report the case of a 49-day-old infant who was diagnosed by echocardiography examination with left ventricle outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction caused by rhabdomyoma. The infant underwent surgical approach, and her mass was shaved. Finally, she was discharged from hospital in good gener...
متن کاملEvaluation of diastolic blood flow dynamic of the left ventricle in dogs with mitral valve regurgitation using vector flow mapping
Mitral valve regurgitation (MVR) is a common valvular disease in dogs. Hydrokinetic evaluation of the blood flow within the ventricles has become possible by vector flow mapping (VFM), which shows the blood flow within the ventricles in vector and vortex flows. Blood flow within the left ventricle of MVR dogs was compared at different stages of MVR and to that of normal dogs. 14 normal dogs and...
متن کاملMetastatic sarcoma : a rare case of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction
We present a patient with cardiac involvement by a metastatic high-grade pleomorphic sarcoma. The tumor metastasized to the endocardium of the left ventricle as well as the lungs, adrenal glands, and thoracolumbar spine. The sarcoma obstructed the left ventricular outflow tract. Approximately 5 months after diagnosis, despite chemotherapy, our patient died suddenly. The exact cause of death is ...
متن کاملAdverse effect of nifedipine on left ventricular obstruction detected by pulsed Doppler echocardiography.
The effect of nifedipine on the ejection flow pattern in the left ventricular outflow tract was observed using pulsed Doppler echocardiography in 6 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. After sublingual administration of nifedipine (10 mg) to 1 patient, the turbulent ejection flow pattern became more marked and increased in duration compared with the initial state. An increase in turbulenc...
متن کاملSubvalvular membrane on the left ventricular outflow tract: multidetector computerised tomography imaging.
In this report, we describe a patient with a subvalvular membrane on the left ventricular outflow tract. Discrete subvalvular membrane is a cause of left ventricular outflow tract narrowing. Multidetector computerised tomography can demonstrate the anatomical three-dimensional view of this region and guide for surgery.

Background/Introduction Anomalies of ventriculoarterial connection with ventricular septal defect (VSD) and left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction such as transposition of the great arteries, double-outlet right ventricle, double-outlet left ventricle, and Taussig-Bing anomaly had a wide variety of spectrum, and several operative techniques have been performed according to diverse an...
